FireBoard 2 Pro - The HOT One!

FireBoard 2 Pro - The HOT One!

The FireBoard story starts with the concept of providing a solution to temperature tracking while smoking meats. At the time, there were devices that tracked temps. However, these devices were point-to-point. The Pitmaster could see the temps from inside the house, but that’s as far as it got. Ted Conrad, FireBoard Founder and CEO, envisioned a world where you could be anywhere in the world and track your temps. This seemed very doable in the age of IOT (Internet of Things) devices.

And the FireBoard FBX11 was born

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, FireBoard became synonymous with cloud connected thermometers. The FBX11 became a reality and developed a strong following for accuracy and reliability.

Several years later, the FireBoard team developed the followup to this original FireBoard and the FireBoard 2 was launched. The years spent supporting the original FIreBoard led to conversations about broadening the applications available with the original FireBoard. Thus, the FireBoard 2 was the first to come in 3 variants.

In addition to the FireBoard 2 with 6 probe ports, the FireBoard 2 Drive included a 12 volt DC out jack to drive a fan for Kamado, kettle, offset or any situation where the user wanted to control a live fire with a fan. This was previously only available with the use of a special cable.

Another use case was the pizza oven. Many pizza oven guys like their oven to get HOT! As the thermistor probe ports on the original FIreBoard could only track temps up to the mid 500 degree mark, this left our many pizza oven guys who track temps well above the 700 degree level. This use case was solved by the FireBoard 2 Pro.

Type K thermocouples are known for their extreme temperature range, robust construction, accuracy and cost. They are considered a standard in the professional temperature monitoring industry for these reasons. So, as the development of the FireBoard 2 range came into development, it made sense to adopt this standard for use in the FireBoard 2 Pro. With 3 miniature Type K probe ports, the FireBoard 2 Pro is ready to track temps well above even what many pizza oven chefs typically run. It also integrates the 12 volt DC out Drive port for a fan. This has been found to be useful for industrious inventors using the FireBoard 2 Pro system for controlling eco-friendly biofuel furnaces.

For many BBQ chefs and pitmasters, the FireBoard 2 and FireBoard 2 Drive will serve every need they have. But, for the discriminating person needing to accurately track high temps with more durable probes, for whatever purpose they need, the FireBoard 2 Pro is THE solution.
